The International Monetary Fund Report (February 2012) defines the Israeli economy as “strong” and praises the functioning of the financial systems and the economic policy in Israel. The Report also cautions against the continuing low rates of participation of “Arab women” and “ultra-orthodox men" in the workforce. To what extent can the Israeli economy maintain its strength and continue to grow in light of global economic crises and in unstable geopolitical surroundings? How can the relative advantages of Israel’s economy be fostered? How can social gaps be bridged? And what lessons does Israel's economic leadership need to derive from the social protests that erupted in Israel in the summer of 2011?
