Exhibition: "Tomorrow's Industries"
President Shimon Peres has faith in Israel's ability to reach the big league in "tomorrow's industries". Undoubtedly, Israel is destined to play an important role in the following six fields of "tomorrow's industries": alternative energy; water technology; stem cells; advanced learning applications; anti-terror countering solutions; information and communications technology.
Israeli industry accomplishments are impressive on any scale and stand as a sharp contradiction to Israel's tiny dimensions. Israel's surface area is minute, but the future for Israeli industries is seen to be massive. Warren Buffet, the American mogul thought to be the largest private investor in the world, and who bought 80% of the Galilee-based company "Iscar" for 4 billion dollars, explained that "the big advantage in Israel is hidden in the unlimited number of talented individuals that live there and thus Israel is the best place to bet on brains."
Indeed, the Israeli Presidential Conference pays tribute to these brilliant minds by highlighting the Israeli industries of tomorrow.
The exhibition "Tomorrow's Industries", in cooperation with The Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute, will host an array of hand-picked initiatives - the fruits of revolutionary and courageous Israel inventors and entrepreneurs. The initiatives featured will provide Israeli Presidential Conference participants as well as an Israeli and global audience, a glimpse of the huge potential concealed in modern Israeli industries – its innovation, creativity, and even the "blessed chutzpah" that are - in the words of President Peres "illustrating the Israeli face of tomorrow".
The initiatives were selected by a Selection Committee made up of the following individuals:
Dr. Shuki Gleitman - Managing Partner, Platinum VC – Chairman of the Selection Committee
Ms. Sophie Blum - General Manager, Procter & Gamble Israel
Prof. David Faiman - Chair, Department of Solar Energy and Environmental Physics, Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev
Mr. Lior Konitzki - Head of Technology Industries Division, The Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute
Adv. Guy Krasny - Director of the Exhibition "Tomorrows Industries", The Israeli Presidential Conference Steering Committee
Mr. Avi Hefetz, Chief Executive Officer, The Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute
Dear visitor,
It is now a year since the beginning of one of the most difficult financial crises the world has known in modern times. Yet it is in precisely this challenging period, in order to strengthen Israel’s exports and economy, that The Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute has undertaken programs that demonstrate to the world the prominence and determination of Israeli industry.
"The Tomorrow’s Industries Exhibition" is an additional means of showcasing the impressive achievements that are the spearhead of Israeli science and industry - the fruits of research that validate Israel’s reputation around the world.
The Exhibition: "Tomorrow's Industries", a joint initiative of The Israeli Presidential Conference 2009 and The Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute, taking place simultaneously with the Conference, reveals the innovative and creative heart of Israel’s advanced industry. The Exhibition showcases the endeavors of dozens of enterprises with great potential to change the face of tomorrow.
The Exhibition is but a glimpse into the world of Israeli entrepreneurs from six selected industry sectors: alternative energy, water technologies, stem cells, advanced teaching software and study aids, anti-terror technologies, and information and communications technologies.
These enterprises were carefully selected according to criteria of technological innovation, level of breakthrough and establishment of proof of concept.
The Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute and The Israeli Presidential Conference 2009 are proud to open a window into the world of tomorrow’s industry.
Sincerely,
Avi Hefetz
